Place Jean Bart and his statue
Place Jean Bart, crossing required to visit Dunkirk was first heavily damaged during the Second World War. Then, in the 80s, becoming Parking before becoming pedestrian between 1993 and 1994.
At the center of the square, there is the statue of Dunkirk’s hero. By David d’Angers, is erected on the site in 1845. The bombings between 1939 and 1945, the statue was affected. The German occupiers do not recast him for the war effort because the tip of his sword pointed England.
